I am for independence as I feel it is the only way that Scotland can go forward, and prosper, and there is no reason that we cant make it on our own , there have been several cases of other countries going Independent in the past and all have made a success of it , and Yes it's not going to be easy, no one has said it would be.
As it is at the moment we Have devaluation with some powers at the Scottish Government, we have Tax raising powers, ect, however all welfare and Pensions are still dealt with by the Government at Westminster in London some 400+ miles from Edinburgh .They are taking all duties from the North sea Oil which is in Scottish Waters, and the Scottish Whisky Trade, and then the distribute it amongst the other states of the UK., they give us a budget to work with .
They also get funds from the European Government which is for Scotland and to be used in Scotland, and it also gets distributed amongst the other states of the UK., Just ask the Scottish Farmers and they will tell you what happens with the funding from European Government
As for all those who say that if Scotland do vote YES, that we will cherry pick all the best bits, I say to them Firstly Scotland is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, so If we get a YES vote we are entitled to a share of the ASSETS of the UK , as well as a share of the National debt
Second , the £ pound is as much Scotland's as it is England, Wales and Northern Ireland's,so there is no reason why we cant Keep the £ pound. For those who say why would we want to have The Bank of England set the Interest rates for a foreign country (Scotland), well just look at the Euro, France, Italy Germany etc, have there interest rates set by the European Central Bank in Brussels, not ideal but it works, it would be in the remaining Countries best interest to set up a currency union with an Independent Scotland, after all we would still be part of the British Isles .
Third The BBC, is as Much Scotland's as it is England, Wales and Northern Ireland's,as we currently have a BBC Scotland ,a BBC Wales and a BBC Northern Ireland, so we can keep that as well,
As for the Queen there is no reason why we could not have the Queen as our Head of State after all we would still be part of the commonwealth as we are a member of the commonwealth at the moment, or are they going to throw us out of the commonwealth .Just look at Canada, Australia and New Zealand all Independent countries and all have the Queen as there head of state, yes we could become a republic however that would need another vote after we gained independence.
As for the European Market ( Euro Zone) we are a member at the moment so why would we have to reapply to become a member.and again it would be in all countries best interest to allow Scotland to stay a member as they do a lot of trade with Scotland at the moment .
This all needs to be negotiated, but the Better together campaign, keep saying that they are getting no Guarantees of what is going to happen after a Yes Vote, the same goes for the Yes Campaign we are getting no intimation what will happen if there is a No vote as the Better together Campaign, will not negotiate at the moment . Not until the result of the Referendum.
I could go on forever as there are so many things being said at the moment that gets me riled, but I will say one more thing , The Independence Referendum in not about Alex Salmond or the SNP, it's about Scotland's future as an Independent Country and that is what matters , so whether you like the SNP or Mr Salmond or not do the right thing for Scotland on the 19Th September 2014 and vote YES to should Scotland be an independent country
