A row broke out after Labour councillors requested the “marked register” of residents who had used their vote – common practice after a local or national election.
Independent counting officer Crawford Langley turned down the request, insisting normal election rules did not apply in this case.
More than 86,000 city residents voted in the March 2 ballot, which returned a 4,126 majority in favour of a complete overhaul of the Victorian Union Terrace Gardens. WHAT'S HE GOT TO HIDE?????
I also wonder How did he get the job? Nod and a wink or a robust competitive award process? Isnt he a former ACC employee? (One Crawford J. Langley was once Corporate director for Legal and Democratic Services at ACC - same guy?) If so, is he in receipt of a pension? If engaged as a consultant, does he work through a personal service company to avoid NI contributions?
Just goes to show they have something to hide. Consultation was majority to retain UTG, Stv poll massive majority to retain UTG, Referendum magority on postal vote to retain, there is a bad smell here!!
