The Following day in the local Rags, the Evening Express and the Press and Journal the backlash started from all the people that supported the CGP, saying that they have just killed off any chance of Aberdeen getting the city of culture, which they have yet to decide if they are going to put a bib in for , and then there are the business men who came out at the last minute in favour of the CGP when the realised that they might loose the vote, also Ian Wood appears to believe that, within the next year, Aberdeen City Council will change hands, there will be an SNP administration and the City Garden Project will be back on the table. Do I assume by those uttering's that Ian Wood is now a closet nationalist and will be campaigning for the SNP. I presume he has spoken to all the people that he recruited during the process of getting the CGP off and running and that they are quite happy to hang around while Ian Wood fulfils his nationalist ambitions. The whole idea is preposterous and Ian Wood should now just be quiet and enjoy the rest of his life, Oh! and pay some taxes pal, then I might take you seriously.
In Tonight's EE (Sat 25th Aug) has Jennifer McKeirnan interviewing Cllr McCaig, page 5. About halfway through: "A TIF scheme would allow the council to repay the loan using 100% of the business rates from the new offices & shops in the city centre instead of sending the rates (revenue) back to the Scottish Government".
Now I am pretty sure that the effect of the TIF is to allow the council to retain only the INCREASE in business rates revenue DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTABLE to the TIF.
So, did the EE's Ms McKeirnan get it wrong? Or does Cllr McCaig just make it up as he goes along?
As for Cllr McCaig, i am a SNP supporter however I will never vote for the party again in the local elections as long as he is the leader of the party in Aberdeen, I think he needs to take a hike as he has completely lost the plot .
